Recruiting News
A couple quick bits of recruiting news, one good, one bad.
First, the good. Jeannette High School's quarterbacks coach, Roy Hall, says he thinks Terelle Pryor is going to be a Buckeye:
"A lot of things are telling me Ohio State," Hall said. "That's my gut feeling. In San Antonio, I was there and everyone he chose to hang out with were the kids from Ohio State and their parents."
This doesn't mean a whole lot, but it did make my morning at work when I read it, so someone get that man a 2004 Corvette. Obviously nobody knows what Pryor's thinking except Pryor himself, but this guy is closer to Pryor than your average pundit, so it's good to hear.
Now, the bad news. Devoe Torrence, OSU's highly-touted running back out of Massillon, is not going to be a Buckeye. OSU apparently pulled the offer due to academic issues. There had been rumors of legal problems for Torrence, but I hadn't heard anything more since then. The coaches thought highly enough of Torrence that they told him they wouldn't sign another running back in the class, so his loss to the class will be felt. It's not a crippling loss by any means, though. The team already has Chris Wells, Mo Wells, Brandon Saine, and Danny Herron, so they'll be fine for this year (knock on wood). This recruiting class brings in fullback Jermil Martin from Glenville and tiny quick dude Lamar Thomas, who could do a thunder-and-lightning sort of thing for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes do still have a chance at signing Texas RB Aundre Dean, but it's a long shot. Assuming they don't get him, a quality back will be a priority for next year's recruiting class.
